History

Samsun University was established in Samsun with the ADDITIONAL ARTICLE 185 of the additional articles added to the Law numbered 2809 mention in the ARTICLE 7 of the Law numbered 7141 under the “Law of Amending Some Certain and Decree Laws with Higher Education Law”, published in the official gazette on18 May 2018.

Samsun University has

1. The Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences, Faculty of Architecture and Design, all of which was re-established under the Rectorate, and the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, both of which were taken from Ondokuz Mayıs University and established under the Rectorate,
2. School of Civil Aviation and Kavak Vocational School, both of which taken from Ondokuz Mayıs University and established under the Rectorate,
3. Graduate Education Institute, re-established under Rectorate.

After the establishment of the university, Prof. Mahmut AYDIN held the position of Founding Rector.
