Great Success by Our University Rocket Team
Samsun Rocket Team received the “Best Team Spirit” award in the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) held in the United States of America (USA).Samsun Rocket Teamestablished within the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Samsun University was awarded the Best Team Spirit award in the competitionin which 122 teams participated.
Samsun Rocket Team advisor Dr. Melahat Cihan stated that “the award deemed worthy of the rocket teamaiming to develop model rocketry in Turkey was source of pride for our country and Samsun University and they were getting ready for the competition with an intensive working process with team leaders and members and they were improving themselves day by day”.
Samsun University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın congratulated Samsun Rocket Team sponsored byTurkish Technology Foundation, Samsun Yurt Savunma and Baykar Makina in line with national technology move, team advisor Dr. Melahat Cihan and all team members for their success. Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın wished the continuation of their outstanding success with the motto of “Greetings to those who glorify our flag in the sky”.
Rector Aydın pointed out that “they have been putting effortto make Samsun University one of the world’s most important centres in aviation and space field that is one of the most important indicators of Turkey’s progress and development and also have been aiming to maximize the manufacturing, production and software engineering related to the aviation and space industry. Lastly, he mentioned that the award given to Samsun Rocket Team continuing to their studies at our university in the world’s largest Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition was an indication of the University’s goals having a reputation in aviation and they were in constant contact with relevant institutions and experts in the field of aviation and space”.
